Fr. Thomas Reese, SJ, says that by far the most important thing a Catholic can do to grow spiritually is to review the Scripture readings for Sunday before arriving for mass. As good as our lectors are here at Redeemer, it is sometimes hard to understand the message presented, and sometimes the readings are even downright confusing!

            Here are some resources that I highly recommend you purchase to use at home for personal growth:

• Give Us This Day is daily prayer resource that is published once a month. But it’s much more than prayers! It does have morning and evening prayer, but also the “Saint of the Day,” the Sunday (and daily) mass readings, plus commentaries on the Sunday readings. It can be used as a Sunday missal with the Order of the mass. It costs $27 for an annual subscription, about $2 per month.
• The Living with Christ Sunday Missal is only $4 for the whole year! These missals are now available in the worship commons for the 2022-2023 liturgical year which begins with Advent. These missals have the Sunday readings plus prayers and blessings.
• A larger resource with both Sunday and daily mass readings is Reading God’s Word. It costs $16 and is available by special order by contacting Deacon Ron.
• Bringing Home the Word is a FREE one-page (front and back) resource that is available each week on the Adult Faith Formation table in the Commons. It can also be emailed directly to your home each week. Just let me know!
